PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – Ian Scott stopped all 21 shots his way as the Prince Albert Raiders opened the Western Hockey League playoffs with a 3-0 win over the Red Deer Rebels on Friday.

Dante Hannoun opened the scoring at 19:28 of the first period while Ozzy Wiesblatt and Sean Montgomery added second-period goals for the Raiders, who host Game 2 of the best-of-seven first-round series on Saturday.

Ethan Anders turned away 25-of-28 shots for Red Deer.

The Raiders went 0 for 2 on the power play while the Rebels were 0 for 3 with the man advantage.


SASKATOON — Chase Wouters scored the winner at 3:23 of overtime to lift the Blades over Moose Jaw in Game 1 of their first-round matchup.

Max Gerlach and Riley McKay had goals in regulation for Saskatoon. Nolan Maier turned away 21 shots for the victory.

Kaeden Taphorn and Eric Alarie found the back of the net for the Warriors, who got 35 saves from Brodan Salmond.


LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — Calen Addison scored at 5:43 of the extra period as the Hurricanes took Game 1 of their first-round series against Calgary.

Carl Tetachuk turned aside 31 shots while Nick Henry and Dylan Cozens also scored for Lethbridge.

Mark Kastelic and Devan Klassen struck for the Hitmen. Jack McNaughton made 30 saves in a losing cause.


VICTORIA — Dino Kambeitz had a pair of goals and Griffen Outhouse made 28 saves as the Royals blanked Kamloops for a 1-0 lead in their first-round set.

Sean Gulka and Carson Miller had the other Victoria goals.

Dylan Garand turned aside 33-of-36 shots for the Blazers.


LANGLEY, B.C. — Dylan Plouffe had two goals and an assist and Trent Miner kicked out 27 shots as Vancouver toppled Seattle in its first-round series opener.

Lukas Svejkovsky, Milos Roman, Jadon Joseph, Dawson Holt and Bowen Byram rounded out the Giants offence.

Andrej Kukuca scored for the Thunderbirds as Roddy Ross stopped 25-of-31 shots in a losing effort. Jake Lee was ejected for cross-checking at 19:54 of the third.


EVERETT, Wash. — Connor Dewar scored his second of the night shorthanded early in the third as the Silvertips got by Tri-City in Game 1 of their first-round series.

Max Patterson, Zack Andrusiak, Lucas Cullen and Martin Fasko-Rudas also scored for Everett. Dustin Wolf made 21 saves for the win.

Nolan Yaremko scored for the Americans. Beck Warm turned away 42 shots in a losing cause.


PORTLAND, Ore — Bailey Brkin made 34 stop as Spokane downed the Winterhawks in the opener of its first-round series.

Adam Beckman, Riley Woods, Jaret Anderson-Dolan, Kaden Hanas and Ethan McIndoe had the goals for the Chiefs.

Joachim Blichfeld and Jake Gricius responded for Portland as Joel Hofer made 17 saves in defeat. John Ludvig was handed a game misconduct at 19:43 of the first for checking to the head.
