'N Sync reunites for J.C. Chasez's birthday, takes adorable photo

The boys of ‘N Sync made hearts around the world skip a beat by getting back together – even if it was only for one night to celebrate former band member J.C. Chasez’s 40th birthday.

The ’90s boy band’s former frontman, Justin Timberlake, posted a picture Tuesday on Instagram of himself alongside fellow ‘N Sync members Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick and Chasez with the caption, “If you don’t know now you know.” It has since received 720,000 likes.

“We kind of closed down the place,” Fatone told E! News.  “We had about 50 of his closest friends, and we had a great time. It was awesome.”

Other partygoers included Gossip Girl’s Chace Crawford, reality star Brody Jenner, Timberlake’s wife Jessica Biel and actress and Chasez’s former flame Tara Reid, among others, according to E! News.

The pop group first emerged onto the American and Canadian scenes in 1998 with their first album ‘N Sync, which sold over 100 million copies.

Their first single I Want You Back was quickly followed up with Tearing Up My Heart. It didn’t take long for the group to dominate the music charts during the late ’90s and early 2000s alongside fellow pop crooners Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys.

It wasn’t until their album No Strings Attached was released in 2000 that the group skyrocketed to fame. With hits like Bye, Bye, Bye and It’s Gonna Be Me, it took only a day for ‘N Sync to sell one million copies, according to Billboard. Nearly 2.5 million copies were sold by the end of the week, and over 10 million by the end of the year, making it the most popular album of 2000.

‘N Sync went on hiatus in 2002 and hasn’t recorded new material since. The group did reunite, though, for a one-off performance at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards.

Timberlake has since gone on to a successful solo career releasing three successful albums: Justified, FutureSex/LoveSounds and The 20/20 Experience. His newest hit Can’t Stop The Feeling currently sits at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Fellow bandmate Bass has appeared in television and movies, including the 2001 film On The Line. He currently appears regularly on The Meredith Vieira Show. Fatone has had minor success on television shows and movies as well.

Chasez followed in Timberlake’s steps with the release of his solo album Schizophrenic in 2004. The most popular song was Blowin’ Me Up (With Her Love) and the album peaked at number 17 on the Billboard 200. He’s appeared as a judge for several seasons of the MTV reality competition America’s Best Dance Crew and continues to write music.

Lastly, Kirkpatrick has appeared on television shows like Angie Tribeca and made-for-television movies like Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!
